The Mundane...and The Magic

The mundane…

• Đi - 3 tiếng ngồi bus, 1 tiếng rưỡi ferry, 1 tiếng đi kiếm đường tới cái bed & breakfast, vị chi là 5 tiếng .
• Show 6h mở cửa, 4h lại, 2 tiếng đứng run hết 1 tiếng rưỡi (chả là hôm í mặc có cái Tshirt à mà trời thì 10oC)
• Bị annoyed hết 2 lần: 1 lần lúc xếp hàng chờ vô cửa, đứng trước 1 đám nghe chúng nó bàn tán về metal scene, 1 thằng fán “I’m not really into Swedish metal” (!!!), thiệt tình lúc đó chỉ muốn quay lại hỏi “Then what the fuck ‘re you doin’ here????”; lần thứ 2 trong lúc đang chờ Into Eternity set the stage, Stu Block đang thử mic bằng cách…ré lên thì 1 đám mặc áo CoB đứng kế bên lăn ra cười & bắt đầu comment nhảm. Cũng may mình k0 fải type khoái cãi lộn, chứ gặp ai đấy thì có chuyện rồi.
• Bị đẩy từ 2^nd row xuống 3^rd row mí lần
• Fuckin’ tall guys were standing in the front and blocking my view
• Got squeezed to half-size at times, the place was pretty much jammed.
• The sound was…a mess. It took me longer than usual to recognize the songs.
• Thính lực của tui đã bị giảm mất 70% right after the show (I was practically deaf), and 10% forever!!!
• Due to over excitement, extra-high level of adrenaline, soaring neck & shoulders, tối đó nhắm mắt được có 2 tiếng
• Về - 2 tiếng chờ bus, 4 tiếng ngồi bus, 1 tiếng rưỡi ferry, vị chi là 7 tiếng rưỡi mới về được tới nhà.

The magic…

• 4:00 PM - Showed up at the gate, noticed 2 giant buses in the parking lot and Stu Block standing somewhere nearby
• From 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM - saw the guys from DT, IE, and The Haunted walking around and actually hung out with Per Möller Jensen, drummer of The Haunted, while he was smoking in the court.
• 6:00 PM – Got inside the venue
• 6:30 PM – The show officially started

Scar Symmetry

First time heard of them. Not really impressed but still. They arrived to “set the mood” anyways.

Didn’t care enough to take pictures.

Into Eternity

They only played for 30 min (what a shame!!!) but their set was fuckin’ awesome. Timeless Winter was the highlight (in my opinion). Stu Block’s voice was pretty impressive. And Troy was hot!!! (I missed the chance of telling him that when he was at the counter selling IE Tshirts afterwards)

The Haunted

Uhm…not much to say, they’re not my favourite. But they surely are to quite a lot of people that day. Some guys got fuckin’ insane, in every sense of this word. Again, didn’t bother to take pictures.

Dark Tranquillity

Well, no need to say, they are the reason why I went through so many hassles and still think it’s totally worth it.

Unlike other gigs that we’ve seen, they didn’t start with The Wonders At Your Feet but The Final Resistance (If I remember it right). And this time not only some guys got insane but the whole crowd (yea, I was one of them). The Wonders At Your Feet came next ( I started to headbang my ass off since), followed by Damage Done, Punish My Heaven, Zodijackyl Light, Focus Shift, The Lesser Faith, Terminus and some more that I can’t remember. One thing that I noticed seeing the crowd’s reaction (and I agree), the shadow of The Gallery is still huge. It actually got kinda awkward sometimes when they kept screaming The Gallery and all that Stanne could do was to ignore it.

Their set was done a bit after 11:30 PM but Stanne stuck around for some time to give fans handshake (and he did shake my hand!)

11:55 PM – Got back outside and their buses were already gone. Missed the chance to take a picture with Stanne

…and somewhere in between

• Exactly quote from what was said by the guy next to me, after Stanne shook his hand: “I’m not showering ever again!!!” (My part, I took a shower right after coming home)
• Got 2 DT Tshirts, they look pretty cool
• Started off in the 3^rd row in DT set, got pushed to 2^nd row which means better view
• Hooked up with some nice guys standing next to me. One of the girls got the guitar pick thrown down by Niklas.
• Discovered that metalheads don't “ở dơ” as they look. The guys in front of me got pretty good-smelling hair.
